Watercolour & ink, 35 minute pose
I was’t going to post this one, as I’m in two minds about it.
This was the third and final piece in the session with the model Dave.
As I wasn’t getting on with the style I’ve been previously developing, I tried some more angular and bolder color instead.
What I like about it: the fact that I’m trying something new, and the fullness of the background.
What I don’t like about it: how it looks.
My mate Phil at the group said “that’s the point, you’re not supposed to like it”. Wise words by da Vinci, says he. (I wouldn’t quote that verbatim, by the way).
I think I’m harbouring some feeling of frustration at the moment, bordering on anger…
I want to draw and paint every day… But a stupid amount of deadlines in my “real job” are preventing me to do so.
So while any ideas I have sit there untried and go stale, my inspiration fades and slips away. It’s so disheartening.
I shouldn’t complain. At least there’s a means for me to put food on the table.
